In a move to further support regional trailblazers, Vogue Singapore has partnered with BMW for the fourth edition of its annual Vogue Singapore Innovation Prize. The award will continue to recognise entrepreneurs who are driving change by using fresh thinking and innovative solutions to solve real-life problems. The winners were announced at a star-studded ceremony held on Tuesday, with guests stepping out on an aptly coloured green carpet.
The 2022 winner of the Millennium Technology Prize, Finland-based biotechnology company Cellartis, has teamed up with Singapore’s national carrier, Singapore Airlines (SIA), to develop and manufacture a biodegradable film for medical applications. The film can be used to treat a wide range of wounds, including burns and severe trauma. It is also designed to dissolve within the body to prevent infection and reduce scarring. The film will be used in clinical trials and could eventually be commercialised, according to SIA.
A 70-year-old man has won a staggering S$10,000 jackpot after finding a 4D lottery ticket on bus service 925 on Dec. 31, reports Shin Min Daily News. According to police, the man was alighting from the bus when he spotted the ticket on a seat. He alerted the operator and publicised his story in the hope of tracing its rightful owner.

The NUS Singapore History Prize has reopened its call for submissions with the introduction of a new translation category, thanks to a donor’s generous gift. The prize is open to non-fiction and fiction works in English that address the theme or field of Singapore history, or feature a substantial element of Singaporean history in their narrative.
NUS lecturer Yong Shu Hoong won the 2022 Singapore Literature Prize for English Poetry for his work Anatomy of A Wave. This is the third time Yong has won the prize, having previously won for Frottage (2005) and the shortlisted work, A Moment of Silence (2017).
This year, more than 4,000 readers voted for their favourite books in the Readers’ Choice category. The four winners–Ali bin Salim, Daryl Qilin Yam, Pan Zheng Lei, and rma cureess–receive cash prizes of up to 1,000 Singapore dollars. The full list of shortlisted works and authors is available here.
