The 2020 SGP Prize Winners and Runners-Up Will Receive $500,000 and $1 Million Grants, respectively

Same game parlays (SGPs) are a popular betting option among sports bettors. They combine multiple events and outcomes in a single bet, resulting in a massive payout comparable to that of a lottery ticket. These bets are often promoted heavily by sportsbooks and can make watching a game feel more exciting. However, they can also lead to unhealthy gambling habits, and can negatively impact a person’s health, family life, and work performance. The risk of losing large sums of money can also lead to debt, affecting one’s credit and other financial resources. These problems can have a devastating impact on a person’s quality of life.

In addition, SGPs can increase engagement with a given game by providing bettors with more options to root for. The combination of many outcomes can create a sense of suspense and excitement, especially for games that may not have strong rooting interest. SGPs can also make a game more exciting for casual bettors who don’t have much knowledge about the teams or players.

The SGP winner will receive a grant of up to $500,000, and the runners-up will each win $1 million. The prize is named for former U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s moonshot project, which was intended to land a man on the moon by 1969. The winner of the prize is chosen by an international jury, while the runner-up is selected from among the finalists by an online public vote. The winner will be announced at a ceremony in London on April 30, 2020.

This year’s 15 finalists, who represent six continents, were selected from more than 1,300 nominations. Their projects include a scheme to plant, grow and digitally track trees in Liberia, as well as a less carbon-intensive method for treating industrial wastewater. Other finalists include an initiative to help the Maasai pastoral community develop climate resilience by fostering sustainable livelihoods and strengthening their communities’ use of traditional and ecological knowledge.

The winners will be presented with the award by Prince William at a ceremony in London on April 30, 2022. During the awards, the finalists will discuss their innovative and transformative projects with the sgp prize judges. They will then be awarded their prizes, including $500,000 and $1 million for their projects, as well as an additional $1 million in support of future work. In addition to the award ceremony, there will be a series of public talks and engagements with youth and other communities in order to spread awareness about their work and the need for global action on climate change. The ceremony will be broadcast live across the globe, with special focus on developing countries. The event will be streamed on the Royal Foundation’s website, and on YouTube. The event will be free and open to the public, with live streaming in several languages.
