Domino, like its name suggests, is a series of falling and connecting tiles that form a recognizable pattern. It is most commonly used to play the game of domino, but can also be used for other games, including solitaire and trick-taking, or even as an artistic medium. There are many different kinds of domino, from basic straight lines and curved ones to stacked walls and 3-D structures. Hevesh has been designing domino art for decades, and she spends a lot of time perfecting the individual sections of each display. Taking the time to test each piece individually allows her to tweak it so that when the whole construction comes together, it works as smoothly as possible.
During the testing process, Hevesh will create multiple versions of each section and then film it in slow motion. This allows her to see what is happening in each frame and make precise corrections so that the entire set of pieces falls as it should. Once the individual sections are ready, Hevesh puts them all together. She starts with the bigger 3-D sections first, then adds flat arrangements and finally, lines of domino that connect all the separate sections together. She has learned that each piece of a domino has its own inertia and needs to be pushed just past the tipping point before it will fall.
After Domino’s stint with the Punisher, she returned to X-Force and was instrumental in helping to capture the Vanisher. However, questions were raised about her abilities when she failed to make a shot her powers should have assured and when she was captured during Operation: Zero Tolerance by Prime Sentinel Ekaterina Gryaznova who implanted her with a neural blocker.
Despite the setback, Hevesh is still confident that Domino’s can be successful again with the right leadership. This includes embracing change and retooling the company’s outdated business model. Hevesh is working hard to get the right people in place, and she’s hoping to bring a little luck into the mix.
The new Domino’s will be a “people-first brand,” Hevesh says. This means empowering employees and putting the customer at the center of everything they do. This is a major departure from the old model that relied on a top-down approach to management. In the future, Domino’s will embrace a more behavioral approach to management, which Hevesh believes is better suited for the modern workforce.
The word domino is a Latin word for “little one.” Domino’s has evolved from its original home-and-garden roots to become a leading authority on design and style. It has published numerous books and launched several lifestyle verticals, including Travel, Wellness, and Weddings. Its content is available on the website, social media platforms, and digital TV channels. In addition, Domino’s has a line of furniture and a podcast, Design Time.
